Getting started

SkyBlock beginner guide: what to do once the tutorial is done. Your priorities, the spawn spots that matter, your daily habits and the traps to dodge.

The tutorial holds your hand: follow Pompon and the GPS fireflies and you can’t get lost. This guide picks up where it lets go, with your island named and your Logbook open: what to do next, in what order, and what you should never do.

Pick your island

Before the tutorial even starts, a screen asks for your theme: Classic (grass, stone and a cherry tree), Aether (an island above the clouds) or Boreal (snow, firs and rune stones under an aurora sky). It is the same starter island in different scenery: no theme is stronger. Pick the one you want to come home to every night, because changing it means starting over on a brand new island (island themes).

Rush your ONE CHUNK

Your ONE CHUNK was born up north, just past your border: a real chunk of the world, all yours, renewed regularly. Until your border takes it in, you can look at it but you can’t mine it.

So your first purchase is the Island Size upgrade: /is up (upgrades). Your border moves out, your ONE CHUNK is inside, and you have your own pit, with nobody around to steal your veins.

Cleared your ONE CHUNK too fast? The Global XP Shop sells its reset, paid with your job experience.

Follow your Logbook

The Explorer’s Logbook (/carnet) takes over from the tutorial (the Logbook). Optional quests in four chapters: First Steps, The Apprentice, The Journeyman and The Master. Each quest tells you what to do, where, and what it pays. Click Track this quest: it shows on your screen and the fireflies take you there.

Everything works solo. Play the first chapter in order: it shows you each system right when you need it, and every quest pays its Rinacoins.

The Logbook tells you what to do, the guide tells you the rules: earning, farms, other worlds, playing together, useful commands. Type /guide, or talk to the Guide NPC at the top of the spawn’s steps.

Level up your Forge

Your Forge produces day and night, even when you are away. It is your first passive income: grow it before you chase more factories.

  1. Raise its level. Open it and upgrade: each level changes the machine and speeds up its output.
  2. Feed it Cores. A Core unlocks a new ore for good in that factory, then you pick what it makes. The more an ore is worth, the slower it comes.
  3. Build its tower. Blocks of what it produces, placed in its chunk, speed it up.

A Core never drops from a broken ore. It mostly comes from Miner tiers, pit events, the casino and bosses. The full factory rundown is in Make money.

Know the spawn spots that matter

Your island’s portal takes you there, and so does /spawn. Here is where to go, and why:

  • The arrival terrace, south: the portal home, with the Guide and the Season ranks at the top of the steps.
  • The spawn pit, in the middle: your first paycheck, renewed regularly, coal at the top and diamond at the bottom (the spawn pit).
  • The Shop and the Seller, south-east: one sells, the other buys back (the shop).
  • The casino, south-west: the Croupier and his machine. Token in hand, right-click the machine: one spin (the casino).
  • The treasury, north-west: three chests on their beacons and the Key Seller (the crates).
  • The pantheon, north-east: the leaderboard screens and the Podium of Legends, with statues of the top three islands (leaderboards).
  • The two mob pits, at the end of the west and east bridges. Every player gets their own mobs there, and the pack leader pays everyone who hit it (the mob pits).
  • Up north: the Colosseum and its PvP warp, the Dragon Mine, and the Dimensions NPC, who takes you to the Nether and the End once they are open.

Build your daily habits

Every time you log in, in this order:

  1. /kit: your Player Kit, free every day. A sword, armor, food. Grab it before heading to the mob pits (kits).
  2. /quotidien: your chest of the day. Open it day after day, your streak climbs and the seventh day gives the best chest. Miss a day and the streak goes back to one. The daily challenges and the weekly one sit on the same screen (The Daily).
  3. Empty your Forge. A full stock makes nothing.
  4. Mine your ONE CHUNK or the spawn pit, then /sell all.

Level up faster

  • Mix it up. Your four jobs all level up at once: Woodsman when you chop wood, Miner when you mine, Farmer when you harvest, Hunter when you hunt. Each one pays you for every action (jobs).
  • Claim your tiers. A job reward is never handed to you: open /jobs and click the one that glows, or “Claim all”. A Core or a factory may already be waiting there.
  • Be at the pit when it stirs. Several times an hour, a pit event shakes the mine, always announced ahead of time. That is where Cores drop.
  • Chase the micro events. Every hour, a race against the whole server. The podium wins the most, but every participant walks away with something (micro events).
  • Dig to the bottom. The very last block of the spawn pit opens the Nether for you, for a while, with its own pit and its own ores.

Dodge the early traps

  • The void doesn’t kill you. Fall and you land back on your island, nothing lost. An item that falls, though, is gone for good.
  • Don’t place blocks to break them. A block placed by a player never pays a job. Crops do: they grow back.
  • Don’t buy what you can farm. The shop sells what no pit gives (glass, buckets, ice, starter seeds) and buys back the rest.
  • Don’t leave your Forge full. A full stock is a stopped factory.
  • Store your best tools in the Multitool. It keeps one tool of each kind and adds nothing on top: the tool inside is what makes the difference. Bound to your account, it comes back on its own if it leaves your inventory (the Multitool).
  • Don’t trust the tutorial’s gamble. That bet was won in advance. At the gamble, it is real luck now, and in the long run the house wins. Only stake what you are fine losing.

Move on

You have your loop: mine, sell, upgrade. To turn it into a real fortune, go on to Make money. To turn your islet into an island people see from afar, head to Grow your island.
