Pompon, your companion

Pompon is a little cloud bunny who lives on your screen, on his islet with a tree, to the right of your hotbar. He falls from the sky at the start of the tutorial, a bit dizzy, spots you, introduces himself… and never leaves your side again. He reacts to what you do, copies your jumps and dozes off when you’re away.

During the tutorial

The tutorial panel tells you what to do; Pompon tells you why, in his own words, in speech bubbles with a little babbling voice. He screams with joy when your Forge starts up, frets when the belt jams, counts your blocks in the spawn pit, nearly faints during the overcharge, and dances when you name your island. He loves the name you pick, whatever it is.

His life afterwards

During the action he reacts without a word. No bubble cutting you off mid-fight.

• You jump: he jumps too, a beat late.
• You crouch three times fast: he does a trick.
• You stand still for a while: he yawns and falls asleep. When you’re back, he startles awake: “I wasn’t sleeping.”
• You fall into the void or from way up high: panic, a scream, then relief.
• A hit leaves you low on health: he squeezes his eyes shut and trembles.
• You eat: he munches along. A carrot in your hand: heart eyes and a little drool.
• A rare job find, a level, a combo: he celebrates, sometimes with a backflip.
• The gamble wheel spins: drum roll. It wins: backflip and fanfare. It loses: he faints, then picks himself up.
• A warp boss shows up during your fight: he hides behind his islet and “covers” you.
• You come back after a few days: he looks everywhere, spots you, jumps for joy and gives you a hug that fills the screen.

He never says the same line twice in a row, and the more you play, the quieter he gets.

His burrow: /pompon

/pompon (or /companion) opens Pompon’s burrow.

• Our bond: hearts that fill up with the days you spend together and with carrots. It never goes down.
• Give him a carrot: he crunches it right in front of you. A golden carrot counts for much more. He only eats so many a day, then he’s full until tomorrow.
• What our bond unlocks, heart after heart: the backflip, the spin (and he remembers your name), the dance, a hug every time you come back, and at the very end… Golden Pompon.
• His chattiness, your call:
  • Chatty: he reacts and talks on his islet, less and less as you play. That’s the starting setting.
  • Discreet: he peeks over the edge of the screen and only comes out for the big moments.
  • Mute: he rests in his burrow, nothing on screen.

Tip: for a trick, crouch three times really fast. While your bond is brand new he just answers with a “?”: one or two carrots and the acrobatics begin.

Good to know

• Pompon lives in the server resource pack’s interface: accept it when you join to see him.
• He speaks the language you chose with /language.
