The spawn pit
The skyblock spawn pit: a real chunk of world to mine, richer ores the deeper you go, hidden structures, and the Nether gate at the bottom.

At the heart of the spawn opens a square shaft one chunk wide: the pit. It isn’t the same stone block repeated forever. It’s a real chunk of Minecraft world, drawn at random and dropped right there, from the treetops down to the bottom of the rock. One time it’s a birch forest over iron veins, the next a desert and its pyramid. And once it’s all dug out, the pit is reborn, different.
Getting there
- Type /spawn or click Spawn in the My Island menu: you land facing the pit.
- It sits in the middle of the plaza. Jump in, that’s it.
- If you’re inside the pit when it regenerates, you’re lifted back up to the plaza, losing nothing.
How it works
- You break blocks in the pit, and only there. Nothing can be placed at the spawn.
- Everything goes into your inventory. No items lying around: what you break lands straight in your bag. Only what no longer fits drops at your feet.
- On top, the surface: grass, dirt, whole trees, flowers. Perfect for your island’s wood and soil.
- Lower down, the rock and its ores. The deeper you go, the richer it gets: coal near the surface, then iron and gold, and at the bottom redstone, diamond and emerald. The original world’s veins are there, and the pit adds more, more and more of them towards the bottom.
- No caves, no water. Holes are filled with rock and water is removed: you mine solid ground without drowning. Careful, a lava pocket can remain.
- Regeneration. The golden plaque above the pit shows The Mine and the time left before the next regeneration. At zero, the pit is rewritten with a brand new chunk of world, and the chat lets you know.
Hidden structures
Every so often, the pit comes back with a vanilla structure planted in it, picked to match the scenery of the moment. The chat announces it: “The mine has just regenerated: an igloo stands in it!”.
- A village house (plains, taiga, savanna, desert), a desert pyramid or well, an igloo, a pillager outpost.
- A jungle temple, a witch hut, a woodland mansion, a mineshaft, a shipwreck, a buried dungeon, trail ruins, a ruined portal.
- Their chests are full: the structure’s vanilla loot, rolled when you open them. Suspicious blocks can be brushed just like in vanilla.
First come, first served: after a regeneration with a structure, rush in.
The Nether gate
Break a block at the very bottom of the pit, on the last layer: the Nether opens for you and you’re teleported there. The access lasts a while, then closes. To open it again, go back down to the bottom. Meanwhile, the spawn’s Dimensions NPC takes you there in one click.
During the Core of the Pit event, the Nether gate stays sealed as long as the Core is beating.
Pit bonuses
- Budding amethyst: in vanilla, you can never pick it up, not even with Silk Touch. Here, breaking one in the pit gives you a chance that it comes off whole. Placed on your island, it grows crystals: the seed of your amethyst farm.
- Genesis Shard: break it in the pit (two right clicks) and the pit is reborn on the spot, brand new, for everyone. See the Genesis Shard.
- Your jobs: the rock, ores and wood you break level up your job, and the Pit Miner mastery counts every block.
Tip: dig a straight staircase down instead of a random hole. You collect every layer of ore on the way down, and you land right on the Nether gate.
Events
Several times an hour, the pit changes its rules: meteorites, buried chests, XP rain, a giant Core to take down together. It’s all on the pit events page.
