The gamble
The skyblock gamble at the spawn's Croupier: stake an item, aim higher, tune your odds and spin the wheel. The rules, the Cores and a few tricks.

The gamble is double or nothing with your items. You stake something from your inventory, aim for something more valuable, and a wheel decides. Win: you walk away with your target. Lose: your stake is destroyed. The bigger you aim, the thinner the golden slice of the wheel. It’s up to you where to set the dial, between playing it safe and going all in.
Getting there
- Talk to the Croupier, under the casino’s canopy, south-west of the hub.
- Or type /gamble (also /bet), from anywhere.
- The very first time, the Croupier walks you through it step by step: follow the green ring, it always circles the next thing to click.
The table
The table reads like a sentence: your stake, your chance, your prize.
- Your stake, on the left. Click an item in your inventory, or click the frame to pick from the list of what can be staked. Clicking the stake gives it back.
- Your prize, on the right. Click the frame to open the catalogue: Ores and ingots, Weapons, tools and armor, Mob loot, Wood and crops, Blocks, Utilities and redstone, Treasures, and the Cores. Each category tells you what’s within reach of your stake.
- Less and More, under your prize: how many you aim for. Fewer items, better odds. Hold Shift for bigger steps.
- Your chance, in the middle: the big golden gauge fills up as you tune it. Hover it for the details.
- PLAY!, at the bottom. The wheel spins.
How your chance works
Every item has a weight, which follows its value. Your chance is your stake’s weight compared with your target’s weight, minus the house’s share. That share is small on small targets and grows on the heaviest ones. The details are written in the table’s tooltips: hover the PLAY! button or a target.
- The target always weighs more than the stake: the gamble is for climbing, not swapping.
- Aim too far and it’s refused: aim lower, or stake more.
The wheel
Hit PLAY! and the screen flickers on like an old arcade machine. Neon rings rush past, the wheel spins under the pointer, a ball races the other way. The golden arc is your chance. The wheel stops inside it: an explosion of colour, your target bursts into the middle, fireworks. It stops outside: the wheel cracks, LOST, and sometimes a cruel SO CLOSE! when it came down to a hair.
- One click during the spin skips to the end.
- At the end, if you still hold the same item, it’s staked again automatically: keep going.
- A win snatched against long odds is announced to the whole server.
What you can’t stake
- An item that’s renamed, has a description, is unbreakable or is a full container.
- An enchanted item or an enchanted book: strip its enchantments at a grindstone first.
- Kit items and golden apples: the kits hand them out every day.
- Level blocks can be staked, but not aimed for.
The Cores
Quarry Cores play in a league of their own: a Core can only be staked against another Core. Several Cores of one rank are worth one Core of the rank above: stake several at once to aim for the great Cores of your factories.
Tip: a treasure found while exploring (an elytra, an enchanted golden apple, a music disc, an armor trim) has no price at the shop, but it does have a weight at the gamble. Stake it to aim for what your island really needs.
What it levels up
- The High Roller mastery counts the wheels you win when the odds weren’t on your side, on a real stake.
