The firefly trail
The SkyBlock GPS lays a firefly trail on the ground to your goal, along the real walking path. How it guides you through the tutorial and around the spawn.

No arrow pointing through walls. The mode’s GPS lays a firefly trail on the ground that follows the real walking path: around walls, through turns, one firefly per step up the stairs. Only you can see it.
When it lights up
- During the tutorial: to your Forge (its nearest side), then to the exact part to click, the broken bridge, the portal’s console, the Croupier.
- At the spawn, for the quest you’re tracking in your Logbook: the next stop of the spawn tour, the mob pits, the Croupier.
Reading it at a glance
- Each firefly is a small light resting on the ground: a golden glow, with a spark floating just above it.
- When the guide appears, they light up one by one, from your feet to the end.
- A wave of light runs down the trail every so often, toward your goal. It shows you the direction in a single look.
- As you walk, the ones right in front of you shrink and fly off in two sparks: the trail is eaten up under your feet.
- Goal in sight, a bigger firefly shines on it. Once you get there, they all rise in a spiral of gold dust.
A trail that stays put
Like in an MMO, the trail is worked out once, then you walk along it. It doesn’t redraw itself every step you take.
- You stray a little: a short link brings you back onto it a bit further on, and the rest doesn’t move a pixel.
- You take a real shortcut: it notices and starts again from you.
- You teleport or get lost: a new trail starts from where you are.
- A door opens, a bridge gets finished: if there’s a clearly shorter way, it takes it on its own.
- It keeps to the middle of bridges and alleys, away from the edge of the void.
Tip: no need to stare at your feet. Look ahead: the wave of light gives you the direction, and the fireflies right in front fade away by themselves as you pass.
Its limits
- It doesn’t climb ladders, vines or scaffolding, and it doesn’t swim. When there’s no walking path, it goes as far as it can, then a dotted line shows the direction.
- It guides you in the world you’re in, never from one world to another.
- It’s silent: it adds nothing to the game’s sound.
Good to know
The fireflies come from the server resource pack: accept it when you join to see them. To know where to go without the GPS, open your Logbook or read Getting started.
