Travel and the iris

Every SkyBlock teleport goes through the iris: your island, the spawn, warps, portals, the Nether and the End. What you see on screen, and when it says no.

Heading home, hopping to the spawn, visiting someone else’s island: every trip goes through the iris. A circle of big crying obsidian pixels closes in on the middle of the screen, rimmed with flickering portal pixels. A cross glints as it shuts, you travel in the dark, then it opens again behind a ring of portal pixels. One sound as it closes, another as it opens.

Every way to get around

  • Your island: /is, or “Go to my island” in the menu.
  • The spawn: /spawn, or “Back to spawn” in the menu.
  • Another player’s island: /is warp <name>, or the island warps board with /is warps.
  • Rune portals: walk through the disc. You set the destination at the portal’s console.
  • Your island’s Nether and End: /is nether, /is end, or “Island dimensions” in the menu.
  • The spawn’s Nether and End: through the bottom of the pits and the spawn’s Dimensions NPC.
  • Going back: /back takes you to where you were before your last teleport, or where you died. It’s a perk of the Empyréen season grade.

Changing worlds with no loading screen

When you go from one world to another (your island to the spawn, say), the iris stays shut while it loads and only opens on a world that’s ready. The loading never hits you in the face, and you never drop into blocks that haven’t shown up yet.

A trip that gets refused

  • In combat, the iris opens again right where you stand, on falling notes: no running away.
  • To an island with player combat on, a warning shows up in the chat. Ask again right after to go anyway.
  • One trip at a time: while the iris is shut, a second request is ignored. No point spamming the command.
  • Banned from an island: its owner has shut you out, the trip doesn’t leave. See Playing together.

Tip: farming far from your home? Move it next to your build with /is sethome. /is becomes a one-way ticket to the right spot, and so does a fall into the void.

Good to know

  • Falling into an island’s void goes through the iris too: you’re back at your home, no death, nothing lost.
  • A few moves are instant, no iris: joining the server, or when a pit or a ONE CHUNK renews while you’re inside (you’re moved to safety before the ground changes).
  • The iris is part of the server resource pack. Without it, travel still works, with a short wait.
