Ignaroth, the Winged Inferno

Ignaroth, the SkyBlock dragon boss: two phases on the ground, one in the air, every fire attack and its dodge, and the Tyrant's Remains from the sky.

The sky turns red above the rift. A huge dragon crashes down on the clearing, jaws full of embers. Ignaroth, the Winged Inferno, is the second world boss: it fights on the ground first, claws, tails and breath, then takes off and rains fire. Bring it down and its remains fall from the sky like meteors.

When and where

  • Ignaroth comes every day, at set times, never at the same time as Azrak. The Colosseum NPC at the spawn shows the next boss and its time.
  • Same meeting place as its rival, the PvP warp: chat warns you beforehand, then the warp closes as soon as it arrives and until the fight ends. Get in early.
  • To get there: /warp pvp, /pvp or the Colosseum NPC. From the sanctuary, jump through the north gate to drop into the arena.
  • Regularly, taking turns with Azrak, Heroic Ignaroth returns: far more health, heavier blows, and the pieces of the Tyrant’s Golden Remains.

The fight

  • Three phases, three bars, shown at the top of your screen. Your damage pops above it with every hit.
  • Phases I and II, on the ground. It walks, turns, hunts you. Its body answers where you stand: tails behind, jaws in front, claws on the sides. You can hit it with a sword anywhere on its body, from the jaws to the tips of its tails.
  • Phase II, the nest awakens on its chest: the Inferno joins the dance, and the fire lasts longer.
  • Phase III, it takes flight and circles the altar. Bow time: on the ground the sword does better; in the air, your arrows hit it full force.
  • After the Ember Rain, it crashes down: it’s within sword reach, and every hit hurts more. Go.
  • Falling to it at the warp doesn’t cost you your gear.

Its attacks and the right answer

  • Searing Breath: leave the cone in front of its maw. The fire sweeps the ground and leaves it burning.
  • Smash: back out of the circle, then jump over the ring of fire.
  • Nest Spit: get out of the fire circles before impact. If a fireball is targeting you, get out of your circle.
  • Gust: its wings blow back everything in front of it.
  • Inferno: take cover behind a stone spire.
  • Wing Storm: get out from under it.
  • Dive: get out of the trail of fire. If it chooses you, get out of its path.
  • Ember Rain: get out of the circles before impact.
  • The ground burns: don’t stand in the flames.

Tip: on the ground, where you stand tells you its next move. In front, the jaws; behind, the tails; on the sides, the claws. Pick your angle before you charge in.

The loot: the Tyrant’s Remains

When it falls, its pieces rain down from the sky onto the altar, like meteors. They belong to whoever picks them up. Each one is engraved with the date of the fight.

The hunter’s set, in netherite, unbreakable, enchanted past the vanilla maximum:

  • Tyrant’s Skull, Burning Heart Cage, Scales of the Fall, Ignaroth’s Talons;
  • Inferno Fang, Tyrant’s Claw, Twin Fang, Reaping Talon, Dragon Rib.

The set bonus: this is the set that hunts. Half the armor makes you faster; the full armor adds more speed, extra damage, and fire no longer clings to you.

The heart beats again. Every piece you put on clacks like bone. The last one sets off a ceremony: two heartbeats, a spiral of power, the dragon’s growl. The very first time, the whole server learns you wear the Tyrant’s Remains.

Worn, it shows. Its skull in 3D on your head, jaws open above your face. Pauldrons of bone and ember. With the full armor, a circle of runes glows at your feet, embers drift around you, a heart beats on your chest, and now and then wings of fire unfold on your back and beat in time with the growl.

Its duplicates trade at the Blacksmith, Boss tab, or sell at the Auction House.

What else a win brings

Like Azrak, only those who really dealt damage count. The dragon’s fall raises your Colossus Slayer mastery and counts for the Logbook and the Daily.
